Roderick Russ’s family holds year anniversary since death, calling for justice

CAMBRIDGE, Md. – It’s been one year since Cambridge native Roderick Russ Jr. was murdered.

His family held a walk not only to honor his memory but to try and raise awareness and find the killer. His family tells us, he was a beloved community member who was involved with the youth.

After an altercation in which Russ was trying to defend a friend, he was stabbed and killed. Police say they believe his murderer is Ryshon Kelly, who is wanted on first degree murder, assault, and related charges. He is described as having black hair, brown eyes, 5-foot-7, and 143 pounds. We’re told Kelly and has been missing since Russ’s death.

Russ’s family tells 47 ABC, they hope to find Kelly and get him off the streets to prevent this from happening to any other family. “So if he can do this to my son, what makes you think he can’t do it to someone else’s son, daughter, mother, brother,” says Russ’s mother, Jeanna Elliot. She adds, “He deserves justice, I deserve justice, my family, his friends deserve justice and justice is what I’m going to get.”

Police and the family ask anyone who has information on the whereabouts of Kelly to call the States Attorney’s office at 410-228-3611.
