10/19 UPDATE: Maryland State Police have arrested two people in connection to the fatal shooting involving a Linkwood man Sunday afternoon.

We’re told 50-year-old Douglas Lamont McKnight has been charged with first and second degree murder, robbery, and the use of a firearm in a violent crime. He is being held without bail at the Dorchester County Detention Center.

43-year-old Octavius Thomas is being held at the Dorchester County Detention Center awaiting a bail review hearing on charges of first and second degree murder. Police say additional charges are pending.


LINKWOOD, Md. – Maryland State Police are investigating a shooting that killed one in Dorchester County over the weekend.

According to police, shortly after 2 p.m. Sunday, Dorchester County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a reported shooting in the 3700 block of Ocean Gateway in Linkwood. The victim, identified as 77-year-old Douglas Washington McKnight of Linkwood, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim was taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore for an autopsy.
