Ocean City holds 2nd annual bike ride
OCEAN CITY, Md. – Ocean City held its 2nd Annual Bike ride with Mayor Meehan on Sunday.
With the event falling on Halloween his year, participants dressed up in creative and fun costumes, to compete for categories such as scariest and most accurate costume. The event saw over 40 riders in attendance, biking from south first street all the way to 22nd street up on the boardwalk. Those who had the best costumes received an award during a ceremony after the ride.
The event also highlighted the steps to be a safe biker in Ocean City and how to observe the rules of the road.
“We really emphasize bake safety in Ocean City and the availability of areas to ride bikes with the boardwalk being one of the primary areas, we had a lot of kids out here today and they know what to do they were answering the questions about wearing a helmet, make sure you have light, make sure you have a reflector, make sure to drive with traffic, so it was educational but on top of everything it was fun,” Mayor Meehan said.
Mayor Meehan also signed pieces of the boardwalk that were distributed as part of the prizes for winning the costume competition, as well as plaques showing the different categories the town had for the costume contests. We are told many people came out this year for the event and Ocean City officials hope to see even more folks participate next year.
