Dover Police investigating shooting of 19-year-old
DOVER, Del. – The Dover Police Department is investigating a shooting that injured a 19-year-old male Saturday night.
Police say around just before 9 p.m., officers responded to the Unit Block of Willis Road for a report of shots fired. When officers arrived, they found about 40 people in the roadway. The scene was secured, and officers found shell casings in the area, but no victim.
A little later, officers were told that a 19-year-old male was dropped off at Bayhealth Kent Campus Emergency Room with a gunshot wound to the thigh and hand. The victim told detectives that he was walking in the area of South Little Creek Road and Barrister Place when he was shot by an unknown person. The victim could not tell detectives if the shooter was on foot or in a vehicle. Officers went to the area and could not find any evidence suggesting a shooting had happened there. There were also no calls taken for any incidents in that area.
The victim was treated for his injuries and is expected to be released from the hospital soon. Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to contact the Dover Police Department at 302- 736-7111. Callers can remain anonymous.
