Plans moving forward with possible new modern OC fire station
OCEAN CITY, Md. – The town is one step closer to getting a new fire station.
Members of the Fire Department met this week with the City Council to discuss the plan for fire station 3, which would be built on 65th street. During that meeting, they discussed cost estimates and the design.
The council voted to approve the design and the funding for the station, with a 5 to 1 vote. We’re told this is just another step forward in the process of bringing to life a new modern facility.
” We will continue to do what’s necessary to make this a viable and final project, we are real close we do have some things that need to be done right now and then we will go back in front of the council with the construction estimates,” Chief Richard Bowers, with Ocean City Fire Department, said.
We’re told moving forward they need the final design as well. Right now, the project is estimated to cost about $9.1 million.
They hope to start building by late spring if all goes well.
