Organizers getting ready for Blessing of the Combines
SNOW HILL, Md. – After a year off during the pandemic, an annual tradition is back in action in Snow Hill this weekend. Organizers say The Blessing of the Combines will be a bit different, but they’re just happy to be back. This year the celebration will be a parade only, rather than the typical festival that organizers put on every year.
The parade will kick off on Saturday at 11 a.m. on Coulbourne Lane, where combines and other farm equipment will make their way through the town. While it’s called The Blessing of the Combines, one organizer says the entire day is really about educating community members about local farmers, and where their food comes from. “Our mission is to honor local farm families and agriculture, and let people know what’s involved in the creation of their food,” said Diana Nolte with the Steering Committee.
Plus, organizers say they are already preparing for next year’s festival. They say to mark your calendars for August, 2022. That’s when the entire festival will be back in action.
