Chicken industry continues to grow
DELMARVA – As demand for food products continue to fluctuate amid the pandemic, the chicken industry is trying to keep growing. That includes educating people about the industry and the jobs available.
Those with the Delmarva Chicken association tell us the demand is rising for chicken. Between kids returning to school, people out shopping more and restaurants opening back up, chicken farmers have their work cut out for them.
We’re told, the chicken and agriculture industry is a big part of Wicomico County as well as Delmarva and educating community members about it’s importance, could help shape future farmers and poultry farmers, something Delmarva always needs. Holly Porter, Executive Director for Delmarva Chicken Association says, “So there’s a lot of job opportunities but really even more, so at the end of the day we all like to eat and it’s important for folks to really know where that comes from and that comes from our farmers that are working hard out there in their fields or in their chicken houses for our sake.”
