Winning big at the Delaware State Fair

HARRINGTON, Del.  – Trying your luck has never been more fun than at the Delaware State Fair.

47 ABC’s Hannah Cechini and photographer Kolby got to try out several games at the fair on Monday. First up, the water gun race.

“It’s just like any other water gun race, only bigger and we have bigger prizes to give you when you win,” said Kate Floyd, game operator. “The key to this one is definitely the first person in the target is the first person to the top, as long as you don’t mess up at all. So, it’s very important to get your water right from the gun into the target, first person to do that.”

We then tried the ring toss, hammer swing, and knock-em-down game.

“It sounds like an impossible game. No, it’s not an impossible game. It’s a little difficult, but I’ve seen a lot of people who can do it. I’m not even kidding,” said game operator Devin.

Bragging rights and stuffed animals bigger than you can carry aside, game operators say it’s the smiles that they bring to player’s faces that really take first prize.

“It’s pretty incredible, especially after the last year. With everything going on it’s really great to see families out here enjoying each other and the event that we put on,” said Floyd.

Of course, there’s a lot more fun to be had than the couple of games that we got to show everyone. The carnival part of the fair opens at 1 p.m.
