Salisbury swim team to cross Chesapeake Bay in honor or Erik Mezick

SALISBURY, Md. – To remember a life, that was taken too soon, a local swim team is making a 18 mile swim across the Chesapeake Bay for Erik Mezick.
24 members of his former swim team, the Dogfish, will swim together in a relay with the coast guard across the same body of water where he was tragically killed in December of 2020.
“He had the gift of the gab, he was a great guy we spoke to him every morning in the gym and he was a great swimmer always hitting laps in the pool,” said Dogfish coach Mike Lahey.
Lahey says organizers will be accompanied by Coast Guard throughout the swim, as traffic will still be going through the bay throughout the swim.
Mezick was killed in December of 2020 when his box truck tragically went off the side of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge.
The Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel swim will not be open to the public, but organizers hope those in the community who wish to sponsor the event and honor the legacy of Erik Mezick will donate at www.givesendgo.com/Swim4Erik
