Popular Berlin daycare reopening under new name, owners in August

BERLIN, Md.- A daycare that’s been closed for almost two years will now be reopening with a new name and new owners.

What used to be known as Beary Best Day Care will now be called Sunny Start Learning Center.

A Worcester County Public Schools Chief Academic Officer and a retired Ocean City Elementary School teacher will open the facility’s doors again in August.

They told us the idea sparked after conversation involving lack of childcare centers in the area.

They found out one of the reasons was because Beary Best was closed.

So, with the need in the community and a location that’s near schools, they felt it was the right call to make.

“We do feel that’s it’s going to help the young families that want to stay in west ocean city to stay and live there and be afforded proper daycare for their infants,” Annette Howe, the Co-Owner of Sunny Start Learning Center, said.

“The fact that it was already and established center with such a wonderful reputation will only help us in establishing, hopefully continuing that wonderful reputation and servicing the community making the community proud,” Dee Shorts, Co-owner of Sunny Start Learning Center, said.

We’re told they plan to open August 16th and have an open house on August 11th.

They are adding parking and a new playground.

Also, they will be center for infants, toddlers, 3 and 4-year-olds, and elementary school kids.

There will be before and after care.

The co-owners said right now they are starting small with 30 kids, but eventually they hope to expand.
