Late night shooting kills one, injures three in Dover

DOVER, Del. – Dover Police say one person was killed and three others were injured in a shooting incident late Wednesday night.

According to police, shortly after 11 p.m., a group of subjects were in the 100 block of South New Street when shots were fired, subsequently hitting multiple victims. It is believed that at least 47 shots were fired based on shell casings recovered at the scene.

Officers arrived on scene within 40 seconds of the shooting and began rendering aid to multiple victims that were injured. A male victim was found dead in a vacant lot near the shooting scene as officers checked the area following the incnident. That victim has since been identified as 19-year-old Tysean Nelson of Dover.

A 39-year-old man and 22-year-old man, both of Dover, were taken to Bayhealth Kent General Hospital for treatment of their injuries. A 40-year-old Dover woman reportedly drove herself to the hospital with a leg injury.
