Gov. Hogan signs 13 million $ salary boost for corrections workers
Maryland- Governor Larry Hogan announced this week a 13 million dollar pay bump for corrections officers in Maryland.
The investment is meant to retain and keep the staff at the facilities, preventing more hiring shortages that have been hitting correctional facilities across the state.
Governor Hogan believes the raises will help to motivate and reward the workers in the penal system.
Eastern Correction Instituion in Maryland told 47ABC thtat over 3,800 stand to recieve a salary raises, which will allow the department to recruit new officers snad retain expereinced correctional professionals.
That would include a base salary bump for correctional officers from 42,584 to 46,039.
ECI issued a statement to 47 ABC that reads in part
“The department is grateful for the work of the Governor in further enhacing the competitive slaries. These new salary levels combined with the excellent benefits, 20-year retirement, and opportunities for career advancement to make corrections an excellent field in which to work.”
