Fireworks explosion in Ocean City

Ocean City, MD-  An unintentional discharge of the Ocean City’s fireworks took place on the beach near Dorchester St. at around 10:15 am.

Onlookers say there was a series of blasts from a firework truck parked on the beach.

During the unintentional discharge, employees of the fireworks company received minor injuries and refused transport to the hospital by Ocean City Paramedics, while no beach or boardwalk patrons were injured according to the Ocean City Fire Department.

“Our Fire Marshals are on the scene and will investigate the cause of the unintentional discharge,” said Ocean City Fire Chief Richie Bowers.

Both fireworks shows on the North and South side have been postponed due to an abundance of caution according to Ocean City Government.

Fire Marshalls are still investigating what could have caused the exploision.
