Delaware State Police investigating fatal motorcycle crash
DELMAR, Del. – Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal motorcycle crash that happened around 4:25 p.m. Saturday.
Police say a 2013 Nissan pick up truck driven by a 70-year-old Delmar, Del. man was traveling northbound on Pepperbox Road, about to turn onto Elliott’s Lane. At the same time, police say a 2002 Victory Deluxe motorcycle driven by a 46-year-old Bridgeville man was traveling southbound on Pepperbox Road approaching Elliot’s Lane. The Nissan began to make the left turn, into the path of the motorcycle. Police say the motorcyclist hit the brakes, and the Nissan stopped in the middle of the roadway.
Police say as a result, the motorcycle slid into the front right side of the truck. The force of the impact sent the motorcycle careening off of the Nissan. The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. The 70-year-old driver was not hurt in the crash.
Delaware State Police say Pepperbox Road between Line Road and Baker road was closed for about three hours while the crash was investigated and cleared. The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact Corporal 1 A. Mitchell at (302) 644-5020.
