Armed Forces Day at the Delaware State Fair aims to recognize members of the military

HARRINGTON, Del. – Service members are getting a warm welcome and thank you for Armed Forces Day at the Delaware State Fair.

Today, if you show a valid military ID at the entrance, you can get into the fair for free. Plus, service members from the Army, Marines, and more are on-site to meet visitors and share information about joining the military.

Seargent First Class Joseph Ramos with Delaware’s Army Natural Guard is one of those who serves here at the fair. He says not only is it great to share information with those who are interested, it’s also an opportunity just to get to know people and make a connection with the community.

“Just saying thank you goes such a long way because for people that serve or people that have served, there’s so much that goes into it that the public eye doesn’t see. The sacrifice, sweat, and tears, that goes on for not only the service member but also the family members,” said Ramos. “We always have a recruiter here on site if anybody is ever interested in wanting more information or being a part of the team. Yes, that’s here to attract and to get people to come this way. But, at the same time it also opens the opportunity for us to just have a normal conversation.”

Service members from various branches of the military will be here for the remainder of the fair. You can find their tents set up throughout the fair, and some even have fun games and activities that you can join in on.
