UPDATE: Dover Police arrest suspect in weekend motel shooting

6/23 UPDATE: Dover Police say they have arrested a suspect in connection to the shooting that happened early Sunday morning at the Capital Inn in Dover.

We’re told at around 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, 31-year-old Caleb Collins was taken into custody at a residence in the 7000 block of S. DuPont Highway in Felton. Following his arrest, officers found that Caleb’s brother, 36-year-old Joshua Collins, was in possession of 27.5 grams of methamphetamine.

Caleb Collins was charged with first degree assault, first degree robbery, possession of a firearm by a person prohibited, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. He was held at SCI on a $115,000 cash bond.

Joshua Collins was charged with possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine, and drug paraphernalia. He was released on a $120,200 unsecured bond.


DOVER, Del. – The Dover Police Department is investigating shooting that happened at the Capital Inn early Sunday morning. Police say around 2:38 a.m. officers were called to the motel for a report of a shooting. That’s where police say they found a 23-year-old male with a single gunshot wound to the back. The victim was taken to Kent General Hospital, where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries.
