Three arrests made following 3-month long drug investigation in Lewes

LEWES, Del. — Lewes Police say they’ve arrested three people following a three month long joint drug investigation with Agents from the Drug Enforcement Administration.

Authorities say they had been monitoring an apartment on the 100 block of Second Street in downtown Lewes.  It was there, they executed search and arrest warrants for 41-year-old Vincent Vecere, 31-year-old Melanie Warrington, and 45-year-old Naome Charles, who all were living in the apartment at the time of the seizure.

Upon searching the apartment, police say they found approximately 47 grams of Methamphetamine, 324 packages containing Heroin and 6 grams of cocaine. We’re told brass knuckles belonging to Vecere were also found.

All three were taken into custody and are facing a number of felony charges related to making and dealing narcotics. Their charges are listed individually below:

Vincent Vecere was arrested and charged with the following:

  • Possession of a Deadly Weapon during the Commission of a Felony, Class B Felony.
  • Manufacture/Delivery/Possession with the Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance in a Tier 3 Quantity (Methamphetamine), Class B Felony.
  • Manufacture/Delivery/Possession with the Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance in a Tier 2 Quantity (Heroin), Class C Felony.
  • Maintaining a Drug Property, Class F Felony.
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance in a Tier 1 Quantity (Cocaine), Class G Felony.
  • Conspiracy 2nd Degree, Class G Felony
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Class B Misdemeanor

Vecere’s bail was set at $74,100 secured cash only and he was transported and committed to Sussex Correctional Institute.

Melanie Warrington was arrested and charged with the following:

  • Manufacture/Delivery/Possession with the Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance in a Tier 3 Quantity (Methamphetamine), Class B Felony.
  • Manufacture/Delivery/Possession with the Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance in a Tier 2 Quantity (Heroin), Class C Felony.
  • Maintaining a Drug Property, Class F Felony.
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance in a Tier 1 Quantity (Cocaine), Class G Felony.
  • Conspiracy 2nd Degree, Class G Felony
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Class B Misdemeanor

Warrington’s bail was set at $37,200 unsecured.

Naome Charles was arrested and charged with the following:

  • Manufacture/Delivery/Possession with the Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance in a Tier 3 Quantity (Methamphetamine), Class B Felony.
  • Manufacture/Delivery/Possession with the Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance in a Tier 2 Quantity (Heroin), Class C Felony.
  • Maintaining a Drug Property, Class F Felony.
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance in a Tier 1 Quantity (Cocaine), Class G Felony.
  • Conspiracy 2nd Degree, Class G Felony
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Class B Misdemeanor

In addition to these charges, Police say Charles was found to be a Federal Probationer and had previously been arrested for drug and weapon offenses in another state.  Her bail was set at $170,400 secured cash only and she was transported and committed to Sussex Correctional Institute.
