Little League Challenger Division looking for volunteers

SALISBURY, Md. – One little league team needs volunteers, but if you sign up, you’ll do more than just help out at a baseball game.

The Little League Challenger Division is a baseball team that serves people with mental and physical disabilities and lets them play the game structured to their abilities. Volunteers get paired with a buddy for the season, and then at games they work with that buddy to make sure they’re understanding the game and having fun.

But more so than just going over the rules of baseball, these volunteers serve as best friends to their buddies throughout the season.

As for time commitments, we’re told volunteers will be asked to be at games from May through June, which will likely be held on Sunday afternoons and last for about an hour. There will also be practices one or two nights during the week.

If you’re interested in volunteering, you can contact Steve Miller at 410-548-4900 or email
