Ashlyn Ullman followed up with the third hit of the inning, scoring Smith to close the gap to one run, setting up Mackenzie Whaley with a chance to win the game.
Whaley hit the first pitch foul off the Laurel dugout. The second came in belt high and Whaley didn’t miss, sending a shot down the left field line, scoring Elya Niblett and Ashlyn Ullman.
Laurel moves to 5-3 on the season, while Tech drops to 5-1.
