Popular TV show American Pickers to visit Delmarva next month
PRINCESS ANNE, Md. – The popular TV show American Pickers is going to be visiting Delmarva next month. A few years back the show visited Somerset County. Warner Sumpter with the Somerset County Historical Society says now they’re hoping to bring the show back. “The first time they came through was with the tourism commission down at the old Burgess Early Americana Museum. They came through and did the picking and worked with the director of the tourism at the time,” said Sumpter.
One spot Sumpter is hoping American Pickers will visit is the Somerset Choice Station. It’s a consignment and antique shop that’s home to historical gems from right here on Delmarva, and across the country. Plus, some of the proceeds from the shop benefit the Somerset County Historical Society. “People bring a lot of stuff here that are from the county. Sometimes it’s stuff that left the county but comes back. But there’s things from all over the country that come through the shop and this would be a good place for them to stop,” said Sumpter.
Sumpter says American Pickers coming to town will hopefully highlight all that Princess Anne has to offer. “It shows what our county is about, how much we have to give, how much history is here. This county still has per capita more of the old 18th century homes and just a different way of life here,” said Sumpter.
If you know someone with a large, private store of antiques, and wants the Pickers to visit, this is how you can get involved: Submit your name, contact information, location, and a description with photos of the collection to Americanpickers@Cineflix.com.
