Hello, my name is Don Dempsey. I was a city of Wilmington police officer for 21 years. I think from the first time I’ve seen what officers do, that inspired me to continue and look into being in law enforcement.

…I think some of the toughest parts were leaving your family all hours of the night. I was leaving a wife and three daughters, sometimes at 12 o’clock at night, and then working through the evening to morning time.
Officers are human; that 99% of them want to do the right thing, that they leave their family behind every night. It’s very important that they get home after their shift.
