REHOBOTH BEACH, Del. – A local favorite pizza spot announced some exciting news for folks in Rehoboth Beach. Grotto Pizza bought the ionic boardwalk space that was once home to Dolle’s Candyland. “We have a restaurant right next door, and when we had the opportunity that came up for this, we jumped on it,” said Grotto Pizza Vice President Jeffrey Gosnear.

Gosnear says the ultimate goal is to move that location in to the newly purchased property. “We will be closing our location and moving over there, but we have several years. We have leases that are in place with other tenants first. Our whole goal was to basically acquire the property. It was a very quick acquisition,” said Gosnear.

Gosnear tells 47ABC that buying the Dolle’s property was a once-in-a-lifetime real estate opportunity, and he’s excited for the possibilities it could bring. “It is probably the most iconic piece of real estate in Rehoboth Beach. The corner of the boardwalk and Rehoboth Avenue has always been the gem of the area. It has the most foot traffic,” said Gosnear.

Gosnear says right now Grotto Pizza is in the very early stages of planning for the new location. He says that the next step will be planning ideas for what they want the location to look like. “We have to do some evaluating now that we have this parcel, along with our parcel. We have to figure out what the highest and best use is for it. The only definitive item that I can say is we’re going to put a Grotto Pizza on the corner,” said Gosnear.
