Bayside Football Preview: Bennett Clippers
SALISBURY, Md. – Bennett, coming off of a 3-win regular season, is now led by a new coach in Dustin Mills, who brings with him a new playbook.
“We’re installing a whole new offensive scheme, a whole new defensive scheme this year,” said Mills.
The new man at the helm of the Bennett Clippers is bringing a new playbook with him. The offense will be a more balanced attack, going to almost primarily spread.
The defense will also see a makeover.
“The big thing, again going back to the Bayside, is the ability to remain flexible,” said Mills. “One week you could be playing a team like Easton who’s going to throw the ball 35, 40 times a game, the next week you could be playing North Caroline, which is as traditional a wing-T as they come. We try to find a defense, or use a defensive scheme that’s going to allow us to be flexible. And I think being in that 4-2-5, that 4-3 look is going to allow us to come up to play the run when we need to, and drop back to play the pass when we need to as well.”
The emphasis for coach Dustin Mills will be on watching his guys pick up the next systems and get better each day. He says this spring will be a send off for the team’s seniors, and a good building block for the fall season to come.
