Worcester County Public Schools experiencing intermittent internet outages

WORCESTER COUNTY, Md. – Worcester County Public Schools teachers and students have been experiencing internet outages for a number of days. Superintendent Louis Taylor says the internet has been going down sporadically because of an issue with their network provider networkMaryland. “networkMaryland is working with our IT department to make sure that we are able to get this issue resolved. Either way it’s not been good. I certainly am so sorry to our teachers, most importantly our kids and our families who depend on this,” said Supt. Taylor.

The superintendent says that the school district and the provider have been working around the clock to fix the issue. Supt. Taylor tells 47ABC that while the outages have caused some disruption for students and teachers, the district has some temporary fixes. “One of the things that we’ve done as a temporary fix is as much as we possibly can – not in all our schools, but in most of our schools – is provide our teachers with a hot spot so that when it goes off they have that hot spot right there available to get back on,” said Supt. Taylor.

Supt. Taylor adds that he expects the internet issues to be fixed soon, possibly even in the coming days. He says that any students or parents who are having problems connecting with teachers over the internet should reach out to their school’s administrator.
