DSP investigating Lewes convenience store robery

LEWES, Del. – Delaware State Police are investigating a convenience store robbery that took place Saturday night.

Troopers say they responded to the Uncle Willie’s BP Station located at 17580 Coastal Highway shortly after 9 p.m. for a robbery. It was learned that the suspect entered the business and waited for other customers to leave before approaching the counter, giving the clerk a plastic bag, and demanding money to be put into it as he displays a handgun. The cashier complied, and the suspect fled the store on foot with an unknown amount of cash.

No one was injured during the incident. The suspect is described as a male, approximately 6’2″ to 6’5″, thin building, wearing a dark colored hooded sweatshirt and pants.
