LEWES, Del.- Behind three touchdowns from QB Tremere Woodlin, the Caesar Rodney Riders defeated Cape 21-13, CR moves to 5-1 on the season. The loss drops Cape to 3-3, and all but eliminates them from the DI playoff race.
It looked like it was going to be a good one all week, CR coming off of a huge loss to Dove last Friday while Cape took down Caravel for the first time in program history last Saturday. Both teams turned the ball over on downs on their opening drives. On the Riders next posession, they kicked off the scoring with a Tremere Woodlin 52 yard pass to Deontre Cale, Cale really making a name for himself this season. On the ensuing Viking drive, Cape drove the ball down the field and capped it off with a counter to Jordan Baines and he took it into the end zone untouched to tie us up at 7.
Game still tied to start the second quarter and on their first drive of the quarter, CR went to the air again and again Woodlin found Cale in the end zone to retake the lead 14-7 with just over 10 minutes until half. With time winding down in the half, Cape took the ball down the field and senior QB Hank D’Ambrogi found Chancler Johnson on a roll out pass and Johnson took it in for the score. the extra point was no good so the Riders took a one point, 14-13 lead into the break.
Jump ahead to late in the fourth quarter, CR still holding a one point lead. The Riders were able to take a lot of time off the clock and get into the end zone, this time a Woodlin QB sneak from inside the one as Caesar Rodney took down Cape 21-13.
QB Tremere Woodnlin (4) and WR Deontre Cale (10) talk about the huge win.
