DOVER, Del. – Capital School District announced Monday evening that starting December 1st, all students will transition to remote learning. In an announcement, Interim Superintendent Dr. Sylvia Henderson said that Kent County has moved to the red level in two of three indicators that are used to determine how schools operate.

Dr. Henderson said up until now, Delaware was at a “minimal to moderate rating status”, which allows each school district to choose which learning model they would use. But now Kent County’s indicators show that there is a significant community spread. Dr. Henderson says because of this, it’s in the best interest of the school community to do online learning.

Despite the transition, teachers will be able to work remotely from their classrooms. No students will participate in in-person instruction until at least January 4th, 2021. The district’s meal delivery service will remain fully functional and on its current schedule.
