Cape field hockey closes out their regular season with a shutout win over Dover

DOVER, Del.- Behind a hat trick from Reagan Ciabattoni, the Cape Henlopen Vikings shut out Dover 5-0 to finish the regular season at 10-1. The loss drops the Senators to 9-3 headed to the playoffs.

The Senators came into this one with a lot of confidence, fresh off a five game win streak. It all looked good for Dover’s defense, turning away five consecutive Cape corner attempts along with three huge saves from keeper Richana Brown, including a penalty stroke, as the first quarter ended tied at zero.

In the second quarter, the wheels started turning for the Viking offense. Two quick goals from junior Reagan Ciabattoni gave Cape the 2-0 lead at half. In the second half, the Vikings extended their lead behind another goal from Ciabattoni, and two more from Mackenzie Brown and Noelle Sabbagh as Cape shut out Dover 5-0.

Dover keeper Richana Brown had a great game in the cage, she faced 22 shots and saved 17 of them. For Cape, Julie Heffernan saved all five of Dovers shots on the night.
