Cape and IR go the distance, Vikings take it in instant classic
DAGSBORO, Del.- Behind a match high 22 kills from Junior Rileigh Wilson, Cape volleyball defeated Indian River 3-2 to move to 8-1 on the year. The loss drops IR to 8-2.
It was a battle of two one loss teams and it definitely lived up to the hype. After splitting the first two sets, River taking the first and Cape the second, Cape took a 2-1 lead following their 25-22 win in set three. Needing just one more set victory to take the match, the Vikings dropped set four 25-19 to force a fifth and River led 8-4 in the fifth. Cape came back to tie the set at 14. Just two points away from victory, Rileigh Wilson came up with two of her match high twenty two kills to give the Vikings the three sets to two match win.
It was a career day for junior Rileigh Wilson with her game high 22 kills for the Vikings, Angelica Kusen led the Vikes with 9 aces, Emily Lamb for a match high 13 digs and Megan Smith led the match with 41 assists.
For the Indians, Ehlers led the way with 20 kills, Lia Diakos had a team high 4 aces, Nicole Woody put up 17 digs.
The Vikings return to the court next Tuesday when they host Milford at 5:45, IR will look to get back in the win column when they host Woodbridge Monday.
