Wicomico County Public Libraries receive $84k grant to improve hotspot and laptop lending program
WICOMICO COUNTY, Md. – Wicomico County Public Libraries is getting an $84,000 grant to help strengthen their hotspot and laptop lending program. The grant will cover the purchase of 60 laptops and an additional 40 hotspots for those who need help with internet connectivity. The money also helps cover two more years of internet service for the hotspots.
Executive Director Ashley Teagle says that the COVID-19 pandemic has greatly heightened the need for students and families to get plugged in and logged on. “Something that’s come up is what if it’s a family with multiple children? Or if we have parents working from home while their kids need to do school work. So hopefully this just helps expand everybody’s ability to do what they need to do,” said Teagle.
Customers can call any of the three library branches to request a laptop and or hotspot. They can pick them up Curbside during Curbside pick-up hours. For more information on how and when you can pick up a device, you can call the Wicomico County Public Library at (410) 749-3612.
