Sayre Baldwin Farms gearing up for Fall Festival

BRIDGEVILLE, Del. – The cancellation of Apple Scrapple was a disappointment for many. But one local farm is stepping up to keep the excitement alive. Sayre Baldwin Farms is holding their annual Fall Festival, but they’re amping it up to draw more people in. “This year we decided to make our fall festival a little more stand out. We wanted to bring people because we know small businesses have been affected by this pandemic. Apple Scrapple is very well known in Bridgeville. When you talk to people about Bridgeville, the first thing they say is Apple Scrapple,” said Samantha Aiken with Sayre Baldwin Farms.

Aiken says that they’re expecting dozens of vendors to set up shop at the festival. There will also be plenty of games, activities, music, and food for everyone to enjoy. They’ll also be taking measures to keep everyone safe. We’re going to have all of our vendors 6 feet apart. We’ve asked our vendors to wear masks. We will have masks if anybody doesn’t have one and would like one. We will provide some. We’ll have sanitizer stations throughout. We’ll have hand wash stations next to our bathrooms,” said Aiken.

Aiken says that the farm wanted to find a way to bring life and happiness to Bridgeville in these difficult times. “With Apple Scrapple being cancelled this year why not try to still bring some kind of life to Bridgeville, and bring people together to let them know that we’re all in this together. Nobody is in this alone. So we’re just trying to bring some life back and bring joy to people in Bridgeville,” said Aiken.

Aiken also says that she hopes the fall festival will help support local businesses who will be taking part. There will also be a you-pick pumpkin patch and hayride. If you’d like more details about the festival, click here.
