QACPS Supt. Dr. Andrea Kane on sick leave, Acting Supt. chosen
QUEEN ANNE’S COUNTY, Md. – Queen Anne’s County Public Schools announced that a former employee is stepping in as Acting Superintendent. The district says that Superintendent Dr. Andrea Kane is on sick leave, but did not say why. Public Information Officer Jeffrey Straight says that it’s not certain when Supt. Kane will be returning to work. In the meantime, Janet Pauls is stepping in as Acting Superintendent to carry out Supt. Kane’s duties. Pauls was chosen for the role during Wednesday’s Board of Education work session.
Pauls began her career with Queen Anne’s County Public Schools in 1977 as a 5th, 7th, and 8th grade teacher at Stevensville Middle School. Since then, Pauls carried a number of roles with the school district. Pauls has served as Interim Acting Superintendent, a teacher specialist, Supervisor of Instruction, a principal at two schools, and Program Director for Teacher Leadership Development. Pauls retired from the school district in June of 2020.
Pauls will attend her first board of Education meeting on November 4th.
