Princess Anne church aims to help community with blessing box
PRINCESS ANNE, Md, – A local church is aiming to bring hope and help to their community with a blessing box. The concept is simple enough: Those who could use a little help can take whatever they need from the box. Inside they’ll find canned goods, boxed food, and toiletries.
The goods are free to all, and are currently being provded by Pure Word Bible Church. “We felt like the timing was perfect with COVID. It’s contactless. Again, our vision as a church is to share the word of God. But it’s also to help our neighbors, and that’s really what we do here. We do a lot of outreach,” said Pastor David Diskin.
Pastor Diskin tells 47ABC that he was inspired by other blessing boxes he saw in West Ocean City. He says he wanted to do something to help in these difficult times. “We know that times are difficult right now. We have people in our own church that are struggling, and I have made it very clear that if you go to this church and need something out of the blessing box take it. I also want to be very clear – you and I might not need to go to a blessing box today, but we may need to next year. So it’s just here for whoever may need it,” said Pastor Diskin.
Pastor Diskin also says that he hopes to see more blessing boxes pop up in the area. He also says that if people want to help provide the necessities found inside the blessing box, they can contact the church to find out how.
