Wreath laying ceremony held to honor fallen police officer Chad Spicer
GEORGETOWN, Del. – Local law enforcement and supporters gathered in Georgetown tonight to honor fallen Officer Chad Spicer. Officer Spicer was killed in the line of duty during a traffic stop eleven years ago Tuesday.
His legacy was honored every year during a wreath laying ceremony in the Georgetown Circle. Members of the Chad Spicer Memorial Foundation were also there to show their support. “Chad was all about his community. Loved his community. So it’s very important for us as family and friends to make sure that we come out – on this night especially – to support the family. Chad was loved by all,” said Anna West.
Family friends say that Officer Spicer was a fixture in the community. West says Officer Spicer would be proud to see his community gathering to support local law enforcement. “I know he’s looking down tonight on everyone and just super proud. Big smiles that Chad always gave – and telling us all to stand up, be proud of your law enforcement, have their six, and continue to do what he would want us to do – and that is be a good person,” said West.
