Organizations team up for virtual 9/11 tribute, honoring all first responders

SALISBURY, Md. – In honor of the 19th anniversary of September 11th, Operation We Care partnered with Parsons Cemetery in Salisbury to pay tribute to first responders.

During a virtual video tribute that you can watch online, representatives of the Wicomico Fire and Sheriff’s Departments take time to honor some of the historic firemen and law enforcement officers from previous eras. Many of them dealt with monumental tragedies including Salisbury’s great fires of the 19th century which twice destroyed the growing commercial hub. Organizers say the tribute is also meant to recognize the heroic actions of all the first responders during the coronavirus pandemic.

“First responders, are on the front lines of the COVID pandemic, we all know that, that’s presented an additional challenge over and above what they normally deal with,” says Jeff Merritt with Operation We Care.

The virtual tribute is about eight minutes long and is available here on YouTube.
