Beebe Healthcare kicks off Vaccinate in 48 initiative
LEWES, Del. – Beebe Health Care is kicking off a new initiative to help get as many people vaccinated against the flu as possible. Starting this month, they’ll be offering 48 public and private flu clinics across Sussex County. “Every year it is extremely important to have a flu vaccine if you are eligible to have a flu vaccine. The flu vaccine is obviously a vaccination that is modified on a yearly basis,” said Infectious Disease Physician Dr. Bill Chasanov.
Beebe says that even though many have their focus on the COVID-19 pandemic right now – it’s still important to get your flu shot each year. Dr. Chasanov says they’ll be offering drive up events – as well as bicycle and walk up events. “This year we are modifying our approach. We are having drive up events for the vaccine. We are also having events where people can ride up if the weather allows that,” said Dr. Chasanov.
Dr. Chasanov says they wanted to make the events as accessible as possible – and that they’ve been getting a lot of feedback about community interest. “While drive up events are good events for people who have the transportation to do that, we also know that there are people that don’t drive or don’t have access to cars, and we’re trying to offer bicycle events and going to the heart of the community,” said Dr. Chasanov.
The first event will be held at Epworth United Methodist Church in Rehoboth Beach on September 21st. For more information about the upcoming clinics, click here.
