Wicomico County Health Dept. honors Overdose Awareness Day with virtual event

WICOMICO COUNTY, Md. – The Wicomico County Health Department hosted a virtual event Monday in honor of Overdose Awareness Day. The virtual event was done through a live YouTube stream

The video featured members of the community who have struggled with addiction. It also introduced Health Department officials and local organizations who help those suffering from addiction. Each speaker shared a story and talked about resources available for those in need. “Why do we do this? We want to shatter the stigma of addiction. We want to offer and share the support that’s there in the community. So many times people – they’re not aware of our COAT team, which is a 24 hour team that they’re in recovery themselves and they help those individuals,” said Jessica Taylor with the Wicomico County Health Department.
