Tropical Storm Isaias: Damage widespread, power outages reported across Delaware

DELAWARE — DelDOT officials say today’s storm damage caused more than 60,000 homes to go without power and they’re asking everyone to be patient as crews work on restoring power.

According to DelDOT,  there was significant damage in the Southern Kent County area.

They say strong winds also caused over a hundred traffic lights to lose power and they’re asking residents to treat these dark signals like stop signs.

Officials tell 47ABC it’ll be a long haul to regain all power.

“A lot of utility damage,” said DelDOT Secretary Jennifer Cohan.

“It’s going to be a long haul trying to get all of this cleaned up and everyone to regain power in their homes,” said Cohan.

Officials say other locations like the Dover Police Department and City Hall also lost power today.

They say until they get all damages assessed it is hard to tell how long it will take to restore power in Delaware.
