Shore Up! Inc. gets COVID funds to provide rental, food, energy assistance

SALISBURY, Md. – As the coronavirus pandemic continues to affect people here on the shore, a local nonprofit is doing everything they can to help families stay on their feet. Recently, the organization Shore Up! Inc. announced they’ve received funding that will allow the agency to help those experiencing financial difficulties during the coronavirus pandemic. We’re told the organization is offering up to $500 dollars in rental assistance, or more in certain cases, to eligible households. The assistance can also help pay for things like food, PPE, or energy assistance.  Officials say recipients must be low to moderate-income, or up to 200% of the poverty level.  They must also live in Somerset, Wicomico, Worcester, or Queen Anne’s counties.

“Right now people need that help. Unemployment rates are high and that makes it hard to provide for the family so we want to provide help now and also help in the future with coaching services as well,” said the Cheif Development and Communications Officer for Shore Up! Inc., Tameka Norman.

For more information or to apply for COVID assistance, you can call the housing counselor and program coordinator, Odetta Evans, at 410-749-1142 ext.356.
