More than $10 million in relief funding up for grabs for law enforcement, youth and victim services programs
MARYLAND – The Governor’s Office of Crime Prevention, Youth, and Victim Services is accepting applications to help law enforcement as well as youth and victim services recover financially from COVID-19. “Our office is primarily focused on victims of crime, children who are disconnected, and also our law enforcement organizations. It can go from anything from services directly for them, or it could go to personal protective equipment,” said Executive Director Glenn Fueston.
More than $10 million is up for grabs . Fueston says that they’ll be awarding money based on the needs outlined in applications. “We’re hoping that a lot of organizations are going to be forward thinking and they’re going to be thinking about infrastructure needs. How can we support this on an ongoing basis with victims of crime, children, or even law enforcement?” said Fueston.
Fueston says that the office will be prioritizing programs and organizations with a unique approach to how they’re connecting with their communities. “We’ve been exploring and talking about unique solutions, much like the schools are doing by providing distance learning. Could we provide support services like telehealth for victims of crime or children – or trying to engage with youth development centers?” said Fueston.
The deadline to apply is September 23rd at 3 p.m. Fueston says that applicants will undergo a competitive review process. To apply for the funding, you can head to the Governor’s Office of Crime Prevention, Youth, and Victim Services’ website.
