Election judges wanted in Wicomico County, across Eastern Shore

WICOMICO COUNTY, Md. – Maryland election officials are calling on the public to help fill vacant election judge positions on the Eastern Shore. Election Director Anthony Gutierrez tells 47ABC that in Wicomico County alone – there are more than 200 spots open for election judges.

To be an election judge, you must be at least 16 years old, a registered voter in the state of Maryland, and able to work at least a 15 hour day. You must also be willing to work outside your home precinct, be able to sit or stand for an extended period, and be able to read, write, and speak English. Election judges are responsible for opening and closing polling sites, checking voters in, and helping voters when necessary.

Gutierrez says there’s no deadline for becoming an election judge. He also says the county will work on filling positions all the way up to the election in November. If you would like to become an election judge – you’re encouraged to contact your local board of elections.
