Town of Chincoteague voted best coastal small town by USA Today

CHINCOTEAGUE, Va. – For those who’ve visited, you already know how great of an area Chincoteague Island is. But now, the entire country knows after they were named the best coastal small town by USA Today. A panel of experts partnered with 10 best editors to pick the initial nominees, but the top ten winners were determined by a popular vote. Chincoteague was running against a number of other towns in Florida, Texas, and Ohio. From the wide array of shops, restaurants, waterside bars and more, town officials say this small island has a lot to offer. And they hope by getting this title, it will draw even more visitors to the area.

“It’s kind of a good lesson for us to realize there’s a lot going on and a lot we can do to attract people here. And I think getting this title is just another affirmation that this is a great place to visit and a great place to live,” said President of the Historic Main Street Merchants Association, Kimberly Dennis.
