Shorebirds hosting movie night kick off for Wicomico Goes Purple

SALISBURY, Md. – Wicomico Goes Purple is teaming up with the Shorebirds to host a family friendly kick off event in September, which is National Recovery Month.

The goal of the campaign is to reduce the stigma around addiction and make people aware of the resources out there to help them. The Shorebirds will be hosting an outdoor movie night at the stadium on September 4th sponsored by Valvoline. Officials say they’ve always enjoyed partnering with Wicomico Goes Purple and believe it’s important to spread their message.

“I know a lot of things going on in today’s world is all about COVID but reality is all the other issues we had before COVID still exist. But unfortunately they’re not getting center stage because of COVID 19 so this is a way to marry the two by doing things socially distant and responsible that way but also bring highlights to a needed thing in our community,” says Chris Bitters, the general manager of the Delmarva Shorebirds.

There will be between 100 to 120 pods marked out on the field that fit about four people each. Each ticket is ten dollars and includes a popcorn and drink.

Keep an eye on the Shorebirds Facebook page in the coming week or so to vote which movie is played at the event.
