Ban on large events forces Eagles to play season in empty stadium

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – If and when the Philadelphia Eagles return to Lincoln Financial Field this fall, the team will be fighting to win for their fans who will not be allowed in the stadium.

Decisions on fans being allowed into stadiums has been deferred by the NFL to local authorities.

The news dropped Tuesday that the city of Philadelphia has issued a moratorium on large events until February 28, 2021.

It was believed the team could be exempt from the moratorium, but city Health Commissioner Thomas Farley shot that down Tuesday afternoon.

The Eagles open the season taking on Washington on September 13. Their first home game is scheduled for September 20 against the Rams.
