Two Berlin parks reopen to the public

BERLIN, Md. – Berlin opened back up two of its parks Friday afternoon. Stephen Decatur Park and Doctor William Henry Park are now open for full use. Public restrooms in Henry Park are also open again – and portable toilets were put back in Decatur and Heron Parks. “Public restrooms will be cleaned regularly. We still ask for folks to social distance as much as possible, and we’ll continue to do our routine maintenance on all the parks,” said town administrator Jeff Fleetwood.

Fleetwood tells 47ABC the parks were reopened with recommendations from the CDC and the Worcester County Health Department. He also says that while the parks were closed – staff members were maintaining them to make sure they were ready for the public when they reopened. 14 “Stephen Decatur Park is a fairly good sized park, as is Heron Park. A lot of grass cutting, a lot of limbs to pick up. So all of that was being maintained over the last – since the growing season started,” said Fleetwood.

Fleetwood says the town is asking people to wear masks and social distance as much as they can while they’re at the park. The parks will continue opening and closing at their regular times.
