Decertification vote cancelled for labor union representing Mountaire employees

SELBYVILLE, Del. – The National Labor Relations Board now says it needs to review the request for an election that would determine the future of the labor union at Mountaire in Selbyville.

Ballots were mailed out on Tuesday for the decertification vote of UFCW Local 27 which represents roughly one thousand employees but the board says the election will no longer be happening. This comes after UFCW filed an appeal to block the election, claiming the employee who wanted to decertify the union was manipulated into doing so.

Officials say a new election won’t happen unless the board decides one is needed. 47 ABC reached out to the union, Mountaire Farms and the attorney representing the employee but none of them have responded yet.
