Capital Elite Cheer competing for $500k prize
WYOMING, Del. – A local cheer and dance academy is in the running to win $500,000 worth of equipment and uniforms – and they need your help to win. “When I first opened, some of that equipment I bought was used. So it just has a lot of years of wear and tear. So I would definitely update a lot of that just because I want the kids to have the safest equipment available,” said Capital Elite Cheer owner Chelsea Thompson.
Thompson says the gym is in fifth place in the Extreme Gym Makeover contest, and are looking to get to the top three. “I enjoy seeing my kids happy, and I enjoy seeing my kids feel like they accomplished something. I know that would really excite them in that aspect. With everything going on with COVID and them being out of the gym for three months, and us just getting back in here, I know that would really excite them,” said Thompson.
Capital Elite Cheer says that the prize would help her to get new equipment, uniforms, and marketing for the company. Thompson tells 47ABC that the prize could go a long way. She says she wants to help support her athletes and their families after the COVID-19 pandemic. “This would be a really great opportunity for our kids and our families. Obviously with COVID some of them have lost jobs and we don’t want them to lose the opportunity to keep their athletes in a program like this,” said Thompson.
Voting will end on June 28th. You can find the link to cast your vote here. On July 1st, the top three competitors will be announced and sent on to the final round of voting. The final winner will be announced on July 14th.
