Trimper’s Greenmarket opens Friday
OCEAN CITY, Md. – Trimper’s Rides began hosting its Greenmarket Friday morning. “Our rule is it’s gotta be agricultural. If you grow it and make it from what you grow, you can bring it here to the farmer’s market,” said Trimper’s Rides president Antoinette Bruno.
The farmer’s market hosts local farmers on the grounds of the historic amusement park. Bruno tells 47ABC that she plans to keep the farmer’s market running until Thanksgiving. “We’re all shut down. We can’t open, and the task force calls. They said well you can open your doors, you just can’t turn on your rides. I’m like okay, we’ll open the doors. We’ll bring people in, and this is us thinking outside the box,” said Bruno.
The green market hosts vendors with everything from flowers to fresh produce to seafood, and Bruno is inviting more to join in. Bruno says she wanted to give the community a way to support each other – while keeping her employees on the job. “This is an opportunity for us to bring the community together. You know, COVID-19 is hard on everybody and we really are taking this opportunity to bring visitors and locals alike, and our chefs from our restaurants,” said Bruno.
Bruno also tells 47ABC that she’s planning to host a number of events throughout the summer. They include art and dining in the park, as well as a summer concert series on Sunday nights. Trimper’s is also getting ready to go for the season with new rides and new foods. “This farmer’s market was the brainstorm of bringing in community into the park and opening our doors, but it’s also to elevate our employees spirits,” said Bruno.
