WESTOVER, Md. – Somerset County Public School officials have announced the district’s 2020 Teacher of the Year.

This year’s winner is Mrs. Lauren Beauchamp, a kindergarten teacher at Carter G. Woodson Elementary. She is a graduate of Somerset County Public Schools and has taught in the county for the past 13 years. She has also spent the last 11 summers working for the Somerset County Migrant Education Program. She also became an English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) teacher, helping staff and students at Woodson Elementary School, Somerset Intermediate School, and Crisfield High School and Academy.

Beauchamp says “it is a pleasure and an honor to represent Somerset County as our 2020 Teacher of the Year. I look forward to the many learning opportunities that earning this title will bring as I continue to serve my community as an educator.”

Beauchamp will go on to represent SCPS as a candidate for the 2021 Maryland Teacher of the Year title in the fall.
