Salisbury non-profit helping feed front line workers
SALISBURY, Md. – A Salisbury non-profit is helping to feed workers at a local nursing home and social service provider. The Extraordinary League of Gentlemen is planning on providing lunch to those on the front lines at the Holly Center and Anchorage Healthcare Center. “They’re literally on the front line and providing that care for not only COVID patients but also other folks that are dealing with other various illnesses and diseases. So this is just a way for us to be able to give back and show some love,” said president and co-founder Chuck Smiley.
Smiley says organization volunteers will pick up the food and drop it off without any contact. He also hopes that his organization can help to inspire others to help out during these difficult times. “We’re trying to inspire other folks to do something. We realize that not everybody can do everything, but each one of us can do something. So, hopefully by sharing the messages and reposting them and retweeting them, we’re inspiring and hopefully challenging and empowering others to do the same thing,” said Smiley.
Smiley says they’re still deciding between bringing pizza or maybe some Chick Fil A. He also tells 47ABC that he was inspired by the medical workers who helped care for his late father – and wanted to show the same support they gave to his family.
